How to Use Unbounce to Build Landing Pages: Step-by-Step Guide
Unbounce helps marketers and businesses create landing pages for specific offers, campaigns, and lead generation goals.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to use Unbounce to build a landing page, from choosing your starting point to creating a form, checking the mobile layout, and publishing.
What Is Unbounce?
Unbounce is a landing page platform with visual editing, AI-assisted page creation, lead capture forms, and conversion measurement.
A landing page focuses on a specific action, such as requesting a consultation, downloading a guide, or signing up for an offer.
New self-service accounts currently use Unbounce’s AI Hybrid Builder. Existing accounts may still use Classic Builder, where some controls and publishing steps differ.
This guide focuses on the AI Hybrid Builder.
How to Use Unbounce to Build Landing Pages
Step 1 — Create an Unbounce Account
Start by creating an Unbounce account and reviewing the available trial and subscription options.
Before building, choose one goal for your page.
For example, a consulting business might want visitors to request an introductory call. A content creator might offer a downloadable checklist.
A clear goal makes it easier to choose your headline, content, and call to action.
Step 2 — Choose How to Start Your Page
Select Create New.
The AI Hybrid Builder offers three starting points:
* Generate a page with Unbounce AI.
* Customize a ready-made template.
* Build from a blank page.
Choose a template for a structured starting point, or describe your business and campaign to generate an initial page with AI.
For example:
“Create a landing page for a marketing consultant offering a free introductory consultation. Include a clear headline, service benefits, and a short contact form.”
Review any generated content before publishing.
Step 3 — Customize Your Headline and Content
Replace sample text with information about your offer.
Your opening section should explain what visitors can get and why it matters.
Include:
* A clear headline
* A short explanation of the offer
* Relevant benefits
* An appropriate image
* A prominent call to action
Use direct button text such as “Request a Consultation” or “Get the Checklist.”
Avoid unsupported claims and testimonials you cannot verify.
Step 4 — Adjust the Design
Edit text directly on the page and select individual elements to adjust their appearance.
Use the Style Guide to manage colors, fonts, and button styles. Add sections through the Components panel when needed.
You can also ask Unbounce AI to make a specific change, such as shortening a headline or adding a benefits section.
Keep the layout focused. Each section should help visitors understand the offer or complete the intended action.
Step 5 — Add and Configure Your Form
For a lead generation page, open Components, find Forms, and select Lead Capture.
Choose an Inline Form to display it directly on the page or a Lightbox Form to open it in a popup.
Edit the sample fields and remove information you do not need.
For a basic consultation request, you might ask for:
* Name
* Email address
* A short description of the request
Give every field a clear label and mark essential fields as required.
Select the form button and configure its Action. Choose a confirmation message or provide a destination URL so visitors understand that their submission worked.
Step 6 — Check Mobile Layout and Page Settings
Use Preview to inspect desktop, tablet, and mobile versions.
Check text size, spacing, images, buttons, and form fields. Make sure the offer remains easy to understand on a smaller screen.
Next, open Layers and Pages, hover over the page name, and select the gear icon to access Page Settings.
Replace the default “Home” title with a descriptive page title. Add an appropriate description and review the social sharing settings.
Step 7 — Publish and Test Your Landing Page
Click Publish and choose Publish Now.
If your account does not have a domain configured, follow the instructions to set up the available Unbounce address and page path.
Publishing to your own domain requires connecting it and having the appropriate account access.
After publication, open the live URL and submit the form using a test address you control.
Check the page’s Leads tab to confirm the submission arrived. Also verify the confirmation message, destination links, and mobile experience.
Step 8 — Review Results and Improve the Page
Use the page overview’s Reporting tab to review visitors and conversions.
Confirm that your conversion goal represents the action you actually want, such as a form submission.
If visitors are not completing that action, review whether the offer is clear, the form is appropriate, and the page matches what brought them there.
Depending on your plan, you can explore A/B testing or other optimization features.
Allow enough relevant traffic to accumulate before drawing conclusions from small differences.
What Can You Use Unbounce For?
Depending on your plan and setup, Unbounce can help you create:
* Consultation request pages
* Downloadable resource pages
* Product promotion pages
* Email signup pages
* Campaign-specific offers
* Service inquiry pages
* Landing page variations for testing
You can share a published page through relevant channels, including email, your website, social media, or advertising.
Publishing a landing page does not automatically bring visitors to it.
Is Unbounce Free?
Unbounce currently offers a 14-day free trial, with no credit card required under its published offer.
Ongoing use requires a paid subscription. Plans differ in page limits, traffic allowances, AI credits, and access to features such as testing and custom code.
Trial restrictions can also differ from paid account capabilities, including custom domain access.
Check the latest terms and feature limits before choosing a plan.
Tips for Better Unbounce Landing Pages
For better results:
* Give each page one primary goal.
* Match your headline to the offer visitors expect.
* Use specific call-to-action text.
* Keep forms as short as practical.
* Review AI-generated content carefully.
* Check the mobile version.
* Test the published form.
* Use actual conversion data to guide changes.
A polished design helps visitors navigate, but a useful offer and clear message remain essential.
Is Unbounce Worth Trying?
Unbounce is worth exploring if you regularly need dedicated landing pages for campaigns, offers, or lead generation.
Its combination of visual editing and AI assistance provides several ways to create and refine a page.
Use the trial to build a practical example, test the publishing process, and evaluate whether the available features fit your budget and expected traffic.
